One-on-One sessions

Psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions in the Netherlands can offer a unique and potentially transformative experience for individuals seeking healing and personal growth, as well as those dealing with more severe mental health issues such as depression or PTSD. These sessions typically involve one-on-one therapy with a trained professional, who guides the individual through their psychedelic journey in a safe and supportive environment. But unfortunately, there are also individuals offering one on one sessions that are not properly trained or even have bad intentions.

In the Netherlands, psychedelic therapy is not officially regulated by the government, nor is ‘therapist’ a protected title. Anyone can use the ‘therapist’ title.  So, it is essential to ensure that the therapist is experienced, reputable, and follows safety protocols. Without proper guidance and support, the intense and challenging experiences induced by psychedelics can be difficult to navigate and process effectively.

Since only truffels are freely available you will mostly find therapist using psilocybine for one-on- one sesions. The other psychedelic substances are either controlled substances or a medicine (Ketamine) and thus cannot in one-on-one sessions outside of clinical trials.

It’s important for individuals with more severe mental health issues to work with a therapist who has experience in treating these specific conditions and to have a support system in place to help them navigate the challenges that may arise during the therapy sessions.

Tips for those considering psychedelic therapy
  • Research the therapist: Make sure the therapist is experienced and reputable and ensure they have relevant experiences, such as a background in mental health care or substantial, well-regarded experience in guiding psychedelic sessions. When you suffer from severe mental health challenges, ensure the therapist has experience with your specific issue.
  • Seek Reviews and Referrals: Look for testimonials and reviews about the therapist. Referrals from a trusted mental health professional can be useful too.
  • Understand the Approach: Each therapist has their own philosophy and approach. Some may fit well with your needs, while others may not align as closely. Choose one that resonates with you and feels right.
  • Assess Transparency: Ethical therapists should be transparent about their methods, what to expect, and their background. A lack of transparency is a red flag.
  • Beware of Overpromises: Be cautious of therapists that promise life-altering revelations or cures, which could indicate a lack of ethical grounding.
  • Listen to Your Gut: Ultimately, trust your instincts. If a therapist or guide feels off, it’s worth continuing your search until you find one that feels knowledgeable, safe and supportive.
