Rescue Mainline: Email with us again!

Next Thursday, the House of Representatives will vote on the fate of Mainline. We recently heard that Mainline is being cut back. This means the end of our organization. D66 has submitted an amendment to reverse this decision. Now all we need is a parliamentary majority! That is why we need your help.

Title: Stichting Mainline must remain – vote FOR the amendment

Dear Member of the House of Representatives Committee J&V and VWS,

Next week you can vote on the fate of Stichting Mainline. Mainline has been doing indispensable work for people who use drugs and live on the margins of our society for almost 35 years. The organization provides information to vulnerable groups, identifies new trends and gives people a voice. The Mainline Magazine is a good example of that. Mainline shares knowledge with care providers from all over the country and has indispensable expertise in harm reduction and drug policy – also from an international perspective.

The complete phasing out of the subsidy to Mainline means that we no longer have insight into drug use among the homeless or, for example, among men who are active in the chemsex scene. In a time of growing homelessness, increasing drug use in public spaces, the introduction of new, strong substances – such as synthetic opiates (fentanyl, nitazenes) or strong stimulants such as flakka – Mainline is needed more than ever.

The Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport (VWS) has decided to stop the subsidy for this important organization. Joost Sneller (D66) submitted an amendment to reverse this decision. Cutting funding for Mainline will ultimately lead to higher societal costs.

I call on you and your party to vote for the amendment.

Kind regards,
