BUDDY ME: BREAKING ISOLATION TOGETHER

Mainline is launching our new project: Buddy Me. This project focuses on men who’ve been active in the chemsex scene but have stopped for some time. Buddy Me was created in response to a need we hear from many men. Social contact provides new, positive energy and helps them enjoy small, everyday activities again. This can help with their recovery.

Reasoning

Mainline organises weekly support groups in Amsterdam for men who want to (temporarily) leave the chemsex scene. We also offer individual support to men. We meet men who want to stop chemsex after a period of intensive use. What is striking is that many of these men subsequently end up in social isolation. They find it difficult to make new contacts outside the chemsex scene, while they need connection, distraction, acceptance and positive activities.

Volunteers

We are looking for people from the LGBTIQ+ community to volunteer. The first meetings will take place in and around Amsterdam. Mainline works on the basis of the experiences of (former) users. We are proud to be an open organization that doesn’t judge. The coordinator evaluates the buddy contact and offers support to both the buddy and the volunteer.

Starting soon…

We will soon start training volunteers. Do you live in or near Amsterdam and would you like to participate either as volunteer or participant? Send us an email.
